We're really looking forward to welcoming you to London for the New Chaucer Society Congress. Here are a couple of pieces of pre-Congress information which might be helpful to you.
You should bring your PowerPoint presentation on a 'thumb drive'/memory stick. We also recommend that you email a copy to yourself or store a copy in the 'cloud' (e.g. Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox). Queen Mary is a PC rather than Mac campus.
Please see the NCS policy on congress participation.
Early registration will be from 1pm on Sunday 10th July, in the Lobby of Arts 2 building. Registration will then be open all day Monday 11th July, also in the Lobby of Arts 2. Most people will arrive from Mile End tube station - it's a 5 minute walk from there: turn left out of Mile End station, cross Burdett Road, go under the bridge, go over the canal, you've arrived at Queen Mary. The campus is across the road, you should enter the campus here. This is the beginning of Westfield Way, one of the central thoroughfares on campus on which most of the accommodation and many of the conference venues are located.
Accommodation at Queen Mary
For those of you who have booked Queen Mary accommodation at the Mile End campus, the accommodation office is in Sir Christopher France House - it's a short walk down Westfield Way (see the map here). You might also want to read the FAQs here, to see what's included in your room.
Banquet and Excursions
Please be sure that you have signed up for the banquet and excursions well in advance and before 30th June.
Getting to The Brewery on Thursday 15th July
The Brewery - where the Biennial Lecture, the final reception, and the Congress Banquet will be held - is in the City of London, a short journey from Queen Mary at Mile End. The address is 52 Chiswell Street, EC1Y 4SD. By public transport, take the Hammersmith & City line from Stepney Green tube station to Moorgate tube and then walk (walk for about 3 minutes); or take the number 205 bus to Liverpool Street station and then walk (walk for about 13 minutes).
